Christmas Letter 2008!

I have been thinking about this blog for a while now, thinking about what to say and how to say it. Needless to say, this blog has been in the "edit" category for about a week! There are so many exciting memories and trips I could talk about ... I cannot believe it has been another year, it was this time last year when I started our family blog with our first post around Thanksgiving. How time flies! When I think back, I remember how busy we have been but struggle to remember all the details! I will try and reminisce a little for you this post...but if I forget anything, the highlights are in the archives of this blog! Fell free to browse!

Wyatt and I started our year with 2 goals in mind: 1. buy/build a home 2. No babies in 08...well, we still live in Needville, in our little country home, no changes there and we are still a family of two and one dog! Maybe this year?! We will keep you updated on house and family!

Wyatt has started a new career with Nalco Company out of Chicago, officing in Sugar Land. He absolutely loves it! He serves a s a chemical sales engineer and couldn't be happier. He spends his days with clients, checking levels, selling chemicals, talking over golf or lunch...depending on the day! His 'normal' Friday consists of 18 holes and a country club lunch. I can't complain, I love the paychecks! ;) God is Good! Wyatt persevered through many 'jobs' before fitting perfectly into a dream 'career'. We are both so thankful!

For me, this year started with me working for an OB/GYN...that lasted about 8 months...long story but that woman was absolutely nuts! Extremely smart but extremely crazy! To stay sain, I had to leave, so I started and am still working with Needville ISD, subbing all the time. In fact, January starts a long term position as the High School Nurse...we will see how that goes. Part of me is thankful for the position and part of me is scared of the idea of a "full-time" job! I have been so spoiled by my every once-in-a-while work day but, I guess everyone has to grow up sometime! My start in beginning a nursing career was anything but easy, I guess I am just not used to perfect opportunities just falling in my lap! I am so Thankful for God's Blessings and continued Peace in our life, "For every good and perfect gift is from above..."James 1:17!

From working to weddings our days are full of excitement and our memories are full of great times. Our families are growing up and growing bigger in number...This year alone Wyatt and I were involved in 10 weddings, more if you count just going as 'guests' and not 'wedding party'! We literally had to budget weddings in our monthly bills! It was a crazy time that seems to be winding down but we still have a few to look forward to...Here is "congratulations" to all the newlyweds out there...

Teecee and Michael ... Kelly and Stephen ... Allison and Kelly ... Ashley and Justin ... Bethany and Josh ... Amanda and Scott ... Brooke and Jeff ... Rachael and Cody ... Jamie and Josh ... Dana and Tim ... Blake and Amy ... Vanessa and Heath ...Trent and Jackie ... Brandon and Lacey ...
and anyone I forgot! May God bless you and your new marriage!
Make Him the center and He wont steer you wrong...Wyatt and I always write in our cards, "Love each other, and life comes easy"!

Speaking of marriage, Wyatt and I celebrated 1 whole year of perfect bliss July 21, 2008! What a whirlwind of a year! We celebrated in San Antonio...see all the details by clicking here!

As if all those weddings weren't enough to take all our time, Wyatt and I have been blessed with families that are just as time consuming...but worth every minute!

Starting with the Byrd bunch...My parents are still living in Burnet and pastoring a great church! They are growing every week and God is at work at the Epicenter! Brandon is getting older and bigger! He is in college and learning how to be an adult! Pray for that! :) Jennifer is pregnant...again...this will make a whopping family of five! Wyatt and I love our niece and nephew and are anxious to welcome another little one. They make great birth control!

The Sbrusch's are still in Needville, Tim and Denise still working as hard as ever. They are two of the hardest workers I know! I see where Wyatt gets his drive! Brett is at Baylor, a sophomore now, and making excellent progress! He is studying Aviation Science and will most likely graduate in May 2010!

Our families are excellent sources of strength and wisdom...we love them very much!

To wrap up this crazy long post, I want to give a little "Top 10 of 08" tribute...

10. Wyatt started working with Nalco

9. Rodeo '08 with Sam and Clay...particularly my "Buddy Race"

8. Brandon (brother) graduated High School and Rachael (cousin) got married!

7. My first evacuation for a style

6. Wyatt turned the BIG 25!

5. Congratulations to everyone who got married, thanks for allowing us to be a part of it!

4. LOVE to all our mean the world to us!

3. CHEERS! to all our know who you are! Without you we would have no fun!

2. Trip to Jamaica!

1. Wyatt and I celebrated 1 year of marriage!

It is our prayer that you and your family are celebrating this wonderful time of year! Please, take time to remember the real Reason for this Christmas Season! And, if challenges are facing you, here is a little wisdom courtesy of my mom, Robin, and the Good Book,
"God will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are continually on Him" Isaiah 26:3

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

Snow gathering on the back - porch railing!

We finally got our Christmas tree for CHRISTMAS 2008 and our home smells like Noble Fir!! Wyatt and I have been meaning to get out and choose the perfect tree for our favorite time of year but have yet to make the time...TODAY was D-Day! And, to make it even more perfect...IT WAS SNOWING! I love life! We have been so busy and I am way behind on shopping for family and friends but, what can I is needed to shop and working is needed to make money! What a vicious cycle :) God is good though, and Wyatt and I have been so blessed this year! Another Christmas as Mr. and Mrs. Sbrusch...I cannot wait!

Happy Thanksgiving, 2008!

The Byrd/Stegent/Sbrusch Family
Wyatt (25) & Kyla (24)
Brandon (19), Kyle (48), Kaden (3), Robin (47), Jennifer (26), Charlie (33) and Karlie (1)

Well, HELLO EVERYBODY! I cannot believe we just celebrated another Thanksgiving! 2008 has gone so incredibly quick! I cannot believe Christmas is just around the corner...I hope my checkbook is ready! This year, my family is coming to Needville and the house needs to be "Santa Ready" for Kaden and Karlie!

Thanksgiving was spent in Burnet and at the land in Otto. We were 100% accounted for at the Byrd house...except for Jennifer's newest addition which is showing ever so slightly through her sweater! We ate too much, laughed too hard, shopped till our husbands yelled and loved every minute! Wyatt and I are so thankful for our wonderful families. God has truly blessed us with loving parents, brothers, sisters, friends and extended family! It is my prayer that everyone enjoyed their holiday week and spent quality time with loved ones, that is what Thanksgiving is all about. I am incredibly thankful for all your and prayers from us to you and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

How it all started! All the Byrd's

. . .

Well, this is an odd post for me because I am really just going to vent a little and write about things on my mind. No pictures, no cute sayings...just me.
I absolutely love the Christmas season. I love the smells, I love the weather, I love the tradition and family time! I, often, find myself sitting and thinking all too deeply about meanings and feelings that come around at Christmas. Why is it that people, every year, become so joyous, eat like crazy just to make a resolution to lose 15 pounds and/or get so angry about things like where the family is going to meet...I mean, shouldn't the "Reason" for this season be celebrated year round and shouldn't we, as Christians, be glee and loving with our families and friends 365 days a year? I think Christmas, or should I say "the holiday", has turned into a big joke. Don't get me wrong, I still love this time of year. I will still have a great tree that smells our little home all holiday-like and I still will get all giddy about Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas traditions and I will probably eat way too much and complain to Wyatt that I need to lose 15 pounds! I just think the thought of Christ and the Reason our season is even here in the first place should be recognized privately and publicly.
Which brings me to my next point. Yes, politics. I am praying for this country daily. I am praying for the future of my family, my children, my nieces and nephews, friends and their loved ones etc... It is pretty bad when my fingers cannot type as fast as my mind is raging about the state of this group we call 'government' and the embarrassment of people we call 'leaders'. Blah...
I am thankful that I serve a mighty God. A God that is faithful and will never leave me. A God that protects me and consumes my fears so I don't have to be afraid. A God that provides me with a loving husband, wonderful family and loving friends. He gave me life, brought me through TONS of memories and gives me new ones everyday...I wish everyone knew Him like I know Him . . .

What a day!

It started off simple...

Me and Brooke!

We had a night full of talking, laughing, remembering, venting...

out on the porch...enjoying the quiet of the country and the company of best friends...

We had a morning full of MUD!

Yes, I got it stuck.

This is the shot after we got the neighbor to pull us out! Wyatt was not happy! LOL!

Mud = bad for your truck...or so I was told. So, we took a detour to the car wash before finally getting to Sandy McGees for lunch!

Finally, Brooke and I got to eat! We chatted more and laughed about our morning. Brooke thought my eyes were interesting...

I guess when God decides to make your eyes two different colors that day, you should be for-warned it is going to be a crazy day!

More about the life in the Sbrusch home...

When you live in a small town some things are limited when you go to the "Super S". Take band-aids, you can either buy the cheapy brand that falls off, which I cannot stand, or you can get the Johnson & Johnson which is only available in Sponge Bob... HAHAHA!!! And, when you buy Sponge Bob, you get to laugh at your adorable husband when he wears them across his "boo-boo"!

That was Sunday...lets go back a few days...

The end of last week was Full of excitement! I was in the elementary school as a sub and got the privilege of checking for "critters". To make matters worse I sent three little kids home with the little red note that said,"I am sending your child home because I found LICE"! You read right, lice. Fun times. I guess that is what I have to look forward to if the school nurse job is in line with God's plan for my future! :)

Friday night, Wyatt and I made a special trip down the road to the Fighting Bluejay Stadium to watch the HS football team make it to the first round of play-offs! We used to go watch football when Brett was playing but now, things are different. Brett is in college and I am pretty involved with the Needville ISD. It is weird to go and be apart of the town. In the earlier days, when we went to the stadium, Wyatt was "Wyatt Sbrusch, Valentine's grandson" or "Wyatt Sbrusch, Denise Stavinoha's boy" and I was "Wyatt's fiance" or "the girl who goes with Wyatt", small towns are funny like that. Anyway, all that to say, this small town is growing on me. The people are amazing, the schools are structured and disciplined, the community is supported by the entire town! This is definately a place I would love to raise children in...however long from now that may be :)

Saturday night, we went to a wedding shower...a surprise couples shower for the up coming "Mr and Mrs. Trenton McGee". This wedding is the first weekend in December and Wyatt and I have the honor of Best Man and Matron of Honor! Roles we have come to be quite familiar with!

Skip forward...this Friday we leave for Dallas. Another wedding! Never a dull moment here!

I am sorry I do not have more pictures, we still haven't bought a new camera! and the one we have only likes to work sometimes! I promise to make up for the lack of photography later!

Side note--can you believe it is already the middle of November? I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!

Halloween 2008: Happy Birthday, Amanda!

This year for Halloween, Wyatt and I went to another "newlywed" home to celebrate Amanda's Birthday! I have known Amanda for 14 years! We are both blessed with wonderful husbands that put up with us and enjoy each-others company, we both stood by each other in our very special wedding ceremonies, and we have traveled many places! Needless to say, we are the best of buds and really take any excuse to get together!! Amanda's birthday is November 1st, which has not fallen on a weekend for a while, and giving that it is the day after Halloween what better way to celebrate than to DRESS UP! There were so many people that joined our celebration and they were all in costume! Even if the costume was "I don't do costumes"...

Lessie (Manda's mom) and Richard!

Tiffany and Justin
"Bun in the oven and Bun Maker"...20 weeks and counting!

Amanda and Melanie

Some of the gang...this was kind of early so we were missing alot!

Melanie getting up after cleaning her spilled water! HAHA...this was really funny!

Scott is always that crazy...they are a perfect match!

My "package" was so I took it off. No, I wasn't Under Armor for Halloween!

Sorry for the blur...our camera has never been the same since Jamaica. Maybe this week I will go get another one??
Scott's roomates! Meet hotdog, banana, keg beer :)

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! WK

...p.s., in case you were wondering...

We went as a UPS man and "his package"...

Leave it to Wyatt to be original...I just play along! :)

Something I forgot...

On my last post about the BIG 3 for the Epicenter, I forgot to mention one sort-of "big-in-a-little-package" detail...

The news did come as a shock, I mean Karlie is only 18 months but, we are overjoyed as Jennifer and Charlie are bringing another life into this world. I can only pray for a safe, term pregnancy and an easy delivery! And, added bonus...this means another year of the pressure NOT on us to have a little one :)

Here is a clip of Karlie last weekend...loving life and loving Peek-A-Boo with Mommy!

(Sorry it is sideways...I can't fix it!)
...See you next time! WK

The Epicenter turns 3...and gets a BIG present!

After 3 years of great ministry out of an old furniture building my dad's church, The Church at the Epicenter, gets a new building! This whole process has been full of blessing after blessing. While my dad searched and searched for land to house the building on, a man from the church came in and said, "Why spend all this money on dirt...I have dirt" and literally gave him the land he needed to build this tool for ministry! To make it even better, the building sits on acreage RIGHT BEHIND my parents place! Perfect. The weekend was full of last minute touches, decorating and trying to put a little color in this 'empty' building but, come Sunday it was definitely full of color, people, music, laughter, friends and family...but most importantly, it was full of the Holy Spirit. This church is a huge blessing to my family, the people of Burnet and to many other visitors from around the Hill Country area! Wyatt and I love visiting, being filled by the Word and spending time with family! It was a great weekend...

One of the many little touches that makes this place so special...

The view from the highway...the 'real' front

inside the sanctuary, the band is off to the side - Notice Brandon behind the drums! :)

The view from our home!

We have started our traveling again! From this point on...till the second weekend of December we are booked every weekend! We travel from Sugar Land to Dallas, Houston to Vegas, and back to Burnet all within the next pray for traveling mercies! And, look forward to many more blog posts from fun events in the Sbrusch family!

All our love...WK
