You have finally arrived! Your dad and I couldn't be more thrilled to meet you. We feel God has blessed us in a way that can never be described. You are such an incredible baby! You have been "nice" to mommy from the beginning- your delivery was smooth, you eat like a champ and are gaining weight steadily, you have already gained a pound! You sleep like an angel and are beginning to recognize when mommy and daddy talk to you.
I want to share with you the story of your birth...this is a memory I will cherish forever...the beginning of our life together!
Labor, for us, started at the Randy Rogers concert during the Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo. After returning home, showering and realizing what I had been feeling all night was real - I decided I would start counting and timing contractions. Around midnight, the contractions were about 10-12 minutes apart and would last between 10 and 18 seconds. I went into the kitchen, sat on my work out ball and starting listening to some calming music. We progressed fast and by 4am I knew it was time to wake your dad! I called the doctor and woke daddy up about 5am and by this time we were contracting every 7 minutes, lasting about 30-40 seconds...Dad drove us (going about 80-mph) to Memorial Hermann Sugar Land and we were admitted through the emergency room by 6am. By the time we were wheeled to the 3rd floor, labor and delivery, and put into triage I was check to be 4cm and 80% effaced. The nurse looked at your dad and I and said, "lets put a gown on you and go ahead and hook you up"...and there we went!
Once you get to know your mommy, you will understand this--I purchased and brought my own gown (you were born into a fitted pink, white and green as opposed to ugly hospital blue) which was pulled out of your first Louis Vuitton diaper bag...the nurse looked at me as if I was crazy ;) but, I was determined to bring you into this world in style!
After getting dressed, being put in our final room and being hooked up to the monitor, an IV was started to administer some antibiotics. I remember looking at your dad and sitting up just to feel a gush of fluid, at about 6:55am my water broke and boy, you started heading out! After about 5 minutes, so around 7am, contractions became constant--no breaks to recover and we knew it was a matter of time. Dad called Memaw who told me to focus, relax, be strong and she would be there soon. I tried to focus that with every contraction I was that much closer to meeting my precious baby girl. I remember feeling the crazy intense pain but, would do it all over again in a heart beat. I remember the nurse running in and saying, " I need to check you, according to the monitor the baby's head is dropping already!"...when she checked she was amazed to find I was totally dilated and you were heading out! Everyone rushed around to try and get ready! They kept telling me not to push but, I told your dad I was pushing! I pushed 5 times and your voice was heard! It was amazing and immediately brought tears to my eyes!
You had arrived! We had accomplished birth completely drug free! We are strong women ;) You were perfect! perfectly pink skin, perfect round head...
